Summer Movie Night This Saturday, June 13 – The Royal Tenenbaums
Like free stuff? Into movies? Free Saturday? If you answered yes to any of these questions, then come to Summer Movie Night this Saturday in downtown Urbana.
Come to the second installment of the second annual Summer Movie Night series this Saturday at the parking lot of 129 N. Race St. We'll be showing Wes Anderson's modern classic, The Royal Tenenbaums along with a few short films. Organized by @urbanalove, Summer Movie Nights are designed to bring together community members and connect them with each other and with what's going on in Downtown Urbana. Last month's movie night – where we showed the Bicycle Thieves – was a great success, with a turnout that belied the weather. Join us this Saturday and remember to bring a chair! The Royal Tenenbaums follows the eccentric and estranged members of a family as they come together following the father's diagnosis with a terminal illness. The film showcases Anderson's typical attention to style and visual imagery with an emotional depth that few of his other films have been able to match. Parents should take note that it's rated 'R'.There's a lot more to Summer Movie Nights than just movies, though. Here's a schedule of what's planned:
5:30 PM: Bikers meet at the Campustown Neutral Cycle for a pre-movie bicycle ride.
6:00 PM: Leave to go on bike ride.
7:00 PM: Live music by The Chemicals
8:15 PM: Screening of some short films followed by The Royal Tenenbaums.
Movie night is sponsored by [co][lab], +adjacency, Champaign County Bikes, Neutral Design Studio, Dixon Graphics, Urbana Public Arts Program, Neutral Cycle, Corson Music, and Prairie Rivers Network.
