A Corn-Cross to Remember
Call us crazy, but we did it. On January 27th, a windy winter day - bikers, volunteers and fans put their butts in gear for the first ever Neutral Cycle Corn-Cross Race at Weaver Park in Urbana. It was our first time hosting our own cyclo-cross event. The goal was simply to spread the love and awareness of cycling throughout Champaign-Urbana and lucky for us, it spread a bit further. Our participants hailed from Chicago, Charleston, Peoria, Bloomington all the way to Terre Haute, Indiana. The cold racing madness ensued with the help of 30 volunteers, and 150 people cheering them on. Afterwards, we toasted to the winners at Riggs Brewery and celebrated the gift of central heat.Thank you to everyone who came out, raced, watched, and supported us! We look forward to continue to building the cycling community in Champaign-Urbana with you. Corn-Cross No. 2 is in the works - stay tuned.Lastly, we couldn’t have made this possible without the tremendous support from all of our sponsors. Loads of thanks goes out to the Urbana Park District, Felt Bicycles, Shimano, Illini Cycling, Wild Card Cycling, Riggs Beer Company, Homer Soda Company, Champaign Coffee Co, USA Cycling, and Koerner Distributor, Inc.If you have any questions or suggestions, please contact us at corncx@neutralcycle.com
